The Texture of Spring

by Gary Mulhall
(Kitchener, Ontario, Canada)

Tree

Tree

This piece is my 2nd work with full color. I have used a 72 piece Prismacolor set for my color and it has been drawn on 400 Strathmore 80-pound paper 18" x 24" drawing pad.

The photo taken of this completed drawing does not show the detail of the strokes in focus as much as I would have liked, however I think that the overall feel of this drawing does come through well enough to see where I was coming from.

I was able to do this piece using a real life source, as this tree sits in my front lawn. This allowed me to bring in my other senses to the table, and transfer those feelings into the drawing, it was a great learning experience.

I hope you enjoy it.
