RECIPE FROM THE STUDIO
Hello painting friends and Happy Valentine's day to all of you who are in love.
As you know from last month's newsletter, we are nursing Gus since he underwent TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery on February 5th.
The studio remains quiet until he is well enough to greet all of his friends.
I do have some workshops coming up soon but not as many as I usually do.
Thanks for your patience as I get things going again as the pooch heals.
Happy painting everyone!

I've been creating vision boards recently as a way of focusing my thoughts and energy to help me achieve my goals and aspirations.
So far most areas of my life are going along just fine. I'm happy to report that using the vision boards is now helping me to lose weight. Yes, as corny as it may sound, it's working for me. Down 8 pounds and only ---- to go! (Like I'd really tell you!) :o)
Making vision boards is not difficult but it's easier when you first experiment with a facilitator. A group environment adds tremendous support and can provide even more clarity. It's an amazingly empowering process.
By clicking on the image above, you can read all about vision boards and how they may serve you in your life.
This is a great way to get a bunch of friends together for an affordable day long retreat. Your session includes lunch and much more!

RECIPE FROM THE STUDIO
Ah yes, the lowly baked beans. Comfort food personified! I don't know about you, but some old-fashioned casseroles are just feel good foods!
This recipe for baked beans is my all time favorite. It's economical, feeds a crowd, is nutritious and it's satisfying any time of year.
BAKED BEANS with MOLASSES
Serves 6 generously
2 cups dried white beans (navy beans)
6 cups water
1 tsp salt
1 cup chopped onions
1/2 pound bacon, cut in 1-inch lengths
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup of molasses
Rinse the beans and then place them in a large saucepan to soak overnight in 6 cups of water.
The next day, add 1 tsp of salt to the soaking water, cover the saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until the beans are tender, about 1 hour. Drain, but reserve the liquid.
Spoon half the beans into a bean pot or a deep baking dish and sprinkle with the onions and 1/2 the rest of the bacon pieces.
Cover with the remaining beans and top with the bacon.
Combine the remaining ingredients with 2 cups of the bean liquid and pour over the beans.
Cover and bake in 250F oven for 6 to 7 hours, adding more bean liquid to keep the beans moist. In the last hour of cooking, remove the lid.
The whole house smells good all day long!!! Enjoy!
